    Vaulted ek1 clasp

First vaulted clasp I have seen so far.
According to the previous owner it belonged to a pilot, so it does make sense I guess.
Can't verify that, but anyway: my new Schickle clasp, hardly worn.

    Regards,
    Ben

It's an Otto Schickle spange with a round wire catch. Usually you see a stamped square catch on Otto's spanges. Nice badge!

Edit: Sorry Ben, I see you already knew it was a Schickle. I was in a hurry to identify it for you. It's a beauty!

I am still missing a 1st class Spange in my little collection

                Ben,

It appears from the photos that the wings are the only parts which are convex. A picture from the side would be interesting. Perhaps the "pilot" did a bit of modification (bending) to achieve the vaulting.

                Regards,

                Ed

                  Hi Ed,
I'm sorry, I wasn't clear enough on the vaulting.

Yes, it was done by hand, it's unevenly done.
The centerpart is still flat, more or less.

But I don't recall to have seen a vaulted one before.

                  Best regards,
                  Ben

                        Ben,

Thanks for the clarification ~ I thought as much. Certainly doesn't detract from a very nice spange. Congratulations!

                        Regards,

Great stuff there Jon. Any chance of a photo of the reverse of the cross/spangen combo that has the eagle removed?
