A Spanish cross in Silver going through the roof

    Lot Nr.7551
A Spanish Cross in Silver with Swords.
Silver, with separately applied eagles and medallion, bellied vertical attachment pin, "835" mark of fineness, weight 33.5 g (OEK 3806). Cleaned. Included is the award document (folded) to Korvettenkapitän (Commander) Hans Schottky dated 6 June 1939 with blind-stamped seal.

Sold by Hermann Historica for 8500 €. Please add 22% to the final price (auction house fee)

It seems that finally this beautiful award won't be underestimated anymore or perhaps this price is justified by the award document as I am not a Legion Condor specialist.

If that price is correct then it must be because it was awarded to the KM, i.e. for the document. In my opinion a set like this is around the 3000 euro mark. 2K for the SCiS and 1K for a Doc.

    Regards,
    AB.
    In memory of my Uncle,
    Schtz.Grenadier KARL HOFBAUER,
    2 Kompanie, Inf-Bat, 550.
Killed in action, Krasnoje, Minsk, 7. Nov. 1942.

Perhaps the buyer had the rest of Schottky´s awards, uniforms etc?

I hope the owner has the rest of the grouping...
May be Schottky was an heroe later on the war.

In the same auction an other spanish cross in silver with Meybauer maker's logo and "800" mark went for 3200 € (+22% fee).
