I am thinking about buying this EK1 but not sure if it is the real thing and how much is a fair price to pay. Please help,

I'm dubious on this one, can you post a full pic of the rear from above (not at an obtuse angle)?

        Hello there,

This is not a period cross in my eyes.

I would say it's a typical post war production by R. Souval with maker's mark L/58.

If it is a post war Souval (which was my suspicion), then personally I would not buy it - so to me it has no value.

I think for EK-collectors it's an interesting EK.
                I would pay 50,- €.

                    Hello there,

While I agree that the reverse looks like typical post war Souval, why doesn't it show a Souval style frame?

is it me or is the 1939 date very special? I do not think this is from pre 1945.

At the moment I don't know an original EK I or EK II with maker's mark L/58 which used a Souval frame. All L/58 marked EK's used a Souval core, but an own frame style (not typical Souval). The distinctive maker's mark are often used on post war awards by Souval. Therefore I believe that Souval didn't produced EK's with this maker's mark (type L/58) during the war.

Maybe Souval produced these EK's after the wear of the old EK-equipment and therefore they used another framestyle (only my assumption).
