    New fake KC?

I've begun to see these making the rounds. Can't recall seeing this exact kind of fake before. This one is sure to fool some folks. The last one I saw was just 800 marked.

Andy, they have been around for approximately a year! Started out w/o markings but since we have seen them with 800, 935, 800 4, 934 4, 800 2 and most recently 800 L/12.
It appears that they are generally based on the Zimmermann and as I recall sold (unmarked) for a coiple of grand...marked they seem to draw less. Most have allegedly been offered from Latvia.

I think it's a real nice one. Doesn't really TRY to be anything original. I like that better than one trying to mimic all the details.

Just a real nice quality fake.

Here's a genuine L/12, not even close, so that's good!

        If I have one !

Wow ! Looking at the cross cause me to drool all over the floor.

        Superb quality !

Does anybody know where to get this high quality repros at a repro price ?

My existing 1957 version does not even 80% match.

Ofcourse it does! None of these 'fakers' starts out thinking "I'll produce a fake that looks fake". It seems that these people have a very clean die, probably done by computer and based on a very rare and virtually never seen Zimmermann. Sure to fool a collector who hasn't studied RK's....because of its rarity.
It's only in their ignorance or greed that they start to give them different maker's marks and their sales fall off.
Produce the obscure....and people will take a chance. As I indicated before those that came early sold for big $ because they looked like the rare 'Z' and L/52!
Next we'll see these 'Z's with round inner corners!!

            Hi Kurt,

Just out of curosity, if you have this cross and label it as "Superb Museum Replica, Second to none". How much are you willing to sell ??

I suspect a language barrier so I'm at a loss for a reasonable response!
I directed comments to Brian and his assertion. As to the value of a fine replica 'ZERO' as eventually it will enter the collector market and....

We'll have to get a charter and go to Latvia for some really nice repros!

Ok! I want the exclusive on 'round' cornered (repo) RK's...the $4,500.00 price tag on the E-stand will be discounted to $2,500.00 that is if I ever get a buyer!
I could even site GW's book and have the buyers line up...But really these fakes are a danger because of 'quality' far exceeding the "real" RK's
and if this is used as a 'ruler'...we as collectors are in a heap!

                    Fake

The cross on e-bay is really an easily detectable fake. It would only pose a threat to the novice. Superfical similarities to Zimmerman's are really no more than that...

Chris, you have been lucky enough to have owned one and studied it before it went back to......
However, those collectors who haven't held one will look beyond the numerals and focus in on the 'lizard' effect of the corners and the roundness of the ring coupled with the fine detail of the overall cross.
Here ya go 'Latvia'....and I know you are taking notes....
Chris if they left off the makers marks and made a proper loop.....yeah there would be many people lined up to drop a few 'G's!
                      Regards,
                      Dave
