Does Anyone Else Have A Brass or L/19 EK1?

I've had this one for a while now, but was just looking at it again & wondering if anybody else has a Brass Core, Ferdinand Hoffstätter, Bonn, L/19 marked EK1.
If you do lets see 'em.

For that matter, I'd love to see any L/19's or Brass Core EK's from other makers.

    Here's mine....

As you might be able to tell, the core above looks like it was touched up at one point.

                  Very cool guys, thanks.

Sebastian- mine looks like it's been touched up too.

I grew up working on boats with plenty of brass on them, and you have a hell of a time getting paint to stick to it for very long, it'll just scape or rub right off.

I wonder what it was about this maker that made them use brass as their core metal?

Has anyone seen or do they have an L/19 that dosen't have a Brass Core?
                  Regards,
                  Chris

                        Very nice one Jan Arne.

Does it look to be a brass core?
I see a little gold peaking through on the "3" in the date.
                        Regards,

What's interesting to me is that while the cores of all of the examples posted by you gentlemen appear to be brass, mine is tarnishing to a blue color, almost like it was copper.

                            George-

That does look like the way copper turns green, but I'd think copper would be to soft to use.

So, I would guess Bill is right, probably more copper than zinc in the alloy mix.
                            Regards,

Indeed it does have copper in the core, as both yellow and red brass have a large amount of copper in them, red brass having the most and is less expensive to produce.

Learned these secrets from working around machinists.
