At the wars end, Deschler as a comany was ''denazified'' by the Americans and at that time Mr Deschler hurried and stored away several boxes of awards of a nature in the attic's and safe places of properties in Munich, owned by Deschler.

Deschler went on to live in Asia for twenty years or so post war and on his return to Germany he did sell some of his wares from his stash hoard, the rest for some unknown reason were not sold at the time.

After his death, I believe personal records divulged the whereabouts of his other wares distributed in 'attics' of properties in the Deschler estate.

It has nothing to do with the the factory premises.

I've only ever seen one cartoned DKIG sold by Regimentals in the UK, if that was the real deal I don't know, as I saw only a small picture of it.

PS just ask Detlev about the hoard, as for the DK's I don't know ?

Look at the Russian Hoard EK I's--if they're any indication, I'd expect the price of minty DKs in the box to go up!

          Deschler

          Gents,

Here is a list of items found in the recent Deschler hoard which I have been able to confirm with my 'own two eyes'. At the German shows today you can find large quantities of the following on Weitze's, Husken's, and Winkler's tables to include the most recent Hermann Historica auction:

KVK 1st Class w/swords in case and carton.
KVK 1st Class w/o swords in Deschler marked case and carton.
Both 1st Class crosses are available without case in tissue wrap.
KVK 2nd Class w/swords in tissue wrap and envelope.
KVK 2nd Class w/o swords in tissue wrap and envelope.
WMM with tissue wrap and envelope.
Mother's Cross in bronze, silver, and gold.

All of the above can still be purchased in 'bulk' still wrapped by the dozen in original Deschler factory shipping cartons.

Rumored to be in the hoard but have been unable to confirm:

          German Cross in Gold.
          EK1s
          Heeresbergfuhrer badges.

The picture below shows Deschler before or during the war. He looks about 90 at that time! Did he really go on to live in Asia for 20 years, and then come back to the old country to recover his stash?? The guy must have been a zombie by that time.

The hoard also contained, as I understand, a quantity of the Eastern Front medal in packet and tissue paper. As these were zink, they suffered the most and most have various stages of zinkpest visible. The KVK1s also show various stages of toning from brilliant and new looking to totally toned in multiple colors. The KVK's all appear to be early war as they are not zink and appear to be buntmetal or some other metal that only tones. The toning is scarily like silver so I wonder if they are silver plated? The KVK2s all seem to be the early bronze variety. Those I have seen do not appear to be zink. The WM medals also seem to have suffered in storage as I have not seen any that look pristine. I have not, until now, heard of the Mother's crosses.

It's not his best side and he dosen't have his teeth in God knows, that's what I was told anyway; the guy that told me certainly had no reason to lie.

And at the end of the day, what's it matter were, how or who found them ?

I think Eastern Front medals were also found in the 'hoard' too.

                    also some EK11's

I believe there were also some EK11's found in that stash. If there is any truth to the rumor of EK 1st classes found I would really like to be directed to the buyer??

                      Hi,

If this is indeed the case, the price of 2500 Euros was quite a deal. Under today's conversion rate that would be $3691 per cased/cartoned cross. If they were in the same condition as the late war type cased WMCs w/ swords, which was Mint, this would be a bargain alone for the cross itself.

Total cost for all 300 crosses would be about $1.1M USD. Most likely too much for 1 dealer alone to buy...so could it be possible for a few "big dealers" to buy all of them up?

Just a thought. I do agree that it seems odd that no pictures exist of this hoard or no other stories have leaked on this.

Look forward to any other info that might become available on this.

I've personally noticed many packeted Deschler EKII's being sold on the market by various dealers the last two or three months, Weitze for one. Members have been posting them on the forum, shwoing them off. I bought one set myself. None of them have been in mint condition, although advertized that way. Although in untouched condition, there are spots of discoloration on the beading of the crosses, and some have even had small spots of rust on the cores. Packets were crisp, no mold or signs of moisture evident. They started showing up right about the time the cased and tissue-wrapped KVKI's hit the market. As far as DK's, I have seen or heard of none. Like others have said, you would think someone would be posting photos of one. It will be interesting to see if they surface at the SOS.

                                I paid $265.00. Steep, but a Deschler.
