Hi Guys:
I have several marked & un-marked Deschler ek2s and they pretty much have the same ring attachment that you show. As for Steve's question on how big was the Deschler Hoard. Good Question, at a recent show I attended in Allentown Pa. there was a dealer who spoke german had about 15-20 marked Deschler ek2's with packets & tissue. He also had russian front medals and west wall all marked Deschler. He said they were from a large recent find in Germany.
I believe there were KVK's in the stash also. I know the guy I got mine from picked up 6 EK2 sets and has at least one KVK2 w/o swords with the tissue paper and packet unissued. Were those mint KVK1s with swords that we going around also part of it? I think they were. I believe I saw a picture of a bunch of them all bound up in the original carton. Wouldn't you have loved to stumble across that booty?
I paid a bit less than that but that sounds about what I'm hearing. I don't think it's too bad a price when you consider that a 1 marked EK2 is not easy to find, and these are close to mint. Any packet runs you $30 or more dollars and the tissue paper is something you'll never see. The set is more than the sum of it's parts really.
