I recently received a few docs from the Bundesarchiv, which include the DKiG award file cards to an Oblt in GR GD.
What interested me was the testimony that it bears to the internal bureaucracy involved in the process. It includes the following entries:
Eingang: 15.12.43 (i guess when the commanding officer´s recommendation was received?)
Weiterger: 18 Dez 1943 (Processed?)
Verliehen: 19. Dez 1943 (awarded. This is in agreement with the date supplied in Die Träger des DKiG - Heer book)
Then on the reverse of the card, Vorl. Bes. Zeugn (prelimirary diploma?) am: 20. Dez 1943 (stamped above 19. Dez 1943, which is crossed out)
