    Iron Crosses 2nd Class 333

    Hello,

I have two of these mint in packets are they OK, the rim seems a little parted from the core and the core is slightly loose.

The packets are unmarked and on the medal ring it has 333 does any one know who they were ?

Do these look and sound alright ? I've had them nearly ten years now they came from my old dealer and they were reputedly two of five hundred that were found in Austria !!!

    Kind regards,

    Marcus

If genuine like I say above who are they 333, Gordons knew book will be in my clutches this week so don't go to any lengths.

            Hi Marcus,

I think these are fake, and the reason I say that is because I am sure I have read so and these very forums and because if I am correct there is no known maker of these supposed 333 crosses.

            Here is some further info:

              Thanks guys,

OK I accept your verdict, how can you tell and what makes them fake, I must confess if George hadn't have said, bad I wouldn't have believed it.

George one to you one back to him I think, have you got that BIG board yet ?

              Kind regards,

              Marcus

                Oh dear,

Bryan I have sent you a PM, please don't conclude any negative thoughts or connotations in my response.

None intended at all, after reading it, it could be read that way.

All of you have more knowledge in this field than I. If it was not for you guys moderators, Association members and members I would have all my fakes still, and I wouldn't have got my money back.

I must confess I thought these were genuine, well 99%.If I didn't like the truth I wouldn't post them, as hard as it is to swallow sometimes.

I accept they are fake I have faith in you, but why ? I truely don't know the difference between good and bad.

George has a fakes board one more to George and the other back to the dealer, he'll take it back he did the rest of my fakes.

So sorry Bryan if you thought I discredited your greater knowledge than mine, I'm sure George dosen't know every thing.

I don't just rely or take a moderators word for it, 90% of the time it's been the members responses. I was taken 'a' back when they turned out fake.

So sorry Bryan, I appreciate every ones time and effort and help.

                Sorry mate,

                Marcus

Marcus, has that dealer who sold you all these fakes decided to pay you back? I certainly hope so

                    Richard,

Yes he did and I didn't have to argue, I swopped like for like or other bits got some cash back, a 200 pound compensation credit note and 3,650 was on the RK KVK.

The Honour Roll (Navy) I got from him for a second time is fake, so is the dd Heer 'parade' helmet.

So theres that, one of the crosses above, a cased war merit cross with outer carton, several Luft boxes and maybe a DK 134 too.

I have been in contact and there is no problem...........as of yet.

I'm putting up stuff now I thought was OK in a broad sense of the word.

                    kind regards,

                    Marcus

                        Bryan,

No need to apologise for anything at all, I don't think you were extreme at all, in any way.

You took the time to help me with the benefit of your knowledge, my response was misinterpreted and I'd have felt the same as you.

It's my fault.(I'm hitting myself as I type with one hand)

Thank you for the kind PM

I'd add you to my buddies list any day, please continue to help me if you would be so kind in the future.

                        Kind regards,

                        Marcus

Thanks for your kindly response. No doubt I did that same thing in my buddies list.

                          Wish we can share more.

                            Marcus,
I can't help but ask why you continue to deal with this dealer of yours if all he does is sell you fakes? It doesn't make sense? If you get burned once, okay it may have been a mistake. Twice, you have to start wondering, but continually? Why bother?

                            Brett

It is really quite simple there was no manufacture of Third Reich medals who used this code number. The highest known number is around 140 I believe. These pieces feature quite sharp edges, they can also be found in 666, 999 and unmarked. If you do a search on the forum for 333, you will turn up a wealth of information on these. Hate to break it to you roughly but these are junk, pure and simple.

Marcus; It is definitely time to invest in some reference material, you have Gordon’s new book on the way? That is a good start, you are a member of this forum, another step in the right direction. The Iron Time by Stephen Previtera also comes highly recommended. No book is perfect, if you do a search on this forum you will find listed the mistakes in this book, however with 6 months of serious reading and study under your chest your will go a long way to avoid being ripped off again. Don’t feel bad about asking questions, none of us know everything, we are all here to learn, share and grow together.
