I personally don't think it's a good one. I don't like how the swastika is off-center, although I'm not sure that perse makes it a fake. I just haven't seen that before on any of the originals I've looked at. I also don't like the rope pattern around the edges. It looks a little too shiny for the age on the rest of the piece. I'm thinking the aging looks artificial, and that's never a good sign either. I also think the details on the reverse, in particular, look a little crude and cheaply done. I could be wrong, but that's just my opinion. If I learn this is a good one, I'll be surprised. However, I have been surprised before.

I would say it's an original Meybauer EK I.
The number design and hinge/pin system are distinctive for Meybauer.
If this EK I is a fake, then we have a big problem for the future.

            Wow - Thanx

I'd pegged it for a goner - cost me $75 at a local flea market - Man told me "iron crosses are expensive."

            Thanx to all.

              Off centre Swas

              Hi Tom,

An off centre Swas is often nothing more than a loose core. Try shaking your cross gently and see if it shifts. It's very common in Imperial EK.

              Regards,
              Stu

Doesn't seem to be loose, but thanx,
