posted this cross for opinions a week or so ago, well ive recieved it and what a beauty .It comes with a story although its a fairly likely one wasnt hard sold and the seller was quite taken back by the price... which actually wasnt that bad

it doesnt appear to have seen much of the light of day i believe the soldier awarded it was KIA shortly after. who says ebay is evil :P

i bought it from someone obviously disposing of a few heirlooms, award must be his wifes grandfather or great grandfather?? i think somewhere he said he was killed in 1944, ive got a surname is there anywhere to have look for any records? well his daughter met a nice chap and well came over to the uk award in the suitcase.

thats how it got back to the uk anyway... and then to me happy days hehe

it was a fair price for both parties more so me i hope.

it was on ebay but the vultures were circling and it was removed within only an hour or so of being active, it was actually taken off by the time i tried to hit the send message to the chap via the auction. luckily i managed to get a email to him via another auction for a musical instrument

i asked what he wanted for it and he said he had 3 offers the top was £150, which he said he was fairly taken back by, i said in that case i'd give him £180 and he accepted.

Got to love that cross Mike and a fabulous price to boot, But i have a general query about BH Mayer EK's what the hell is going off with the paint finish? this one is minty hardly ever been out of the case in the past 60 odd years but the paints bubbling i had one with the same problem does anyone know why these suffer so badly?
