    German Cross makers mark

Hi . This is my first post on this forum as I am a fairly new member . However I have to say I have accumulated a mountain of information just from frequenting this site and spending hours on research . The knowledge some fellas posses on the subject of German medals is outstanding to say the least .
At the moment I am hovering around a german cross in gold that is for sale , but Im weary of a couple points that someone may be able to answer .
    1. The makers mark on the pin is 30 . Ive seen makers marks of 1,2 and 20 but never 30 . Is this legit and if so who is the manufacturer .

    2. The background sunburst and the foreground sunburst is slightly, and only slightly , misaligned at the lower most point . For such a high grade medal I find this hard to accept considering the stringent standards imposed .

    3. What is meant by a "heavyweight' version as oposed to "lightweight"

Any help would be sincerly appreciated . Vic

PS I would like to post pictures but my camera is out of commission at the moment .

Hi Victor and welcome to the forum.
Its a great source of infomation for all collectors.
30 is NOT a recognised mm for the DK so I would stay away from it. "Heavyweight" and "lightweight" refers naturally to the weight of the DK.
The misaligning you decribe does not necessarily make it bad but without photos it hard to tell. It doesn't matter because as I said, mm 30 is a no-no

    Regards,
    AB.
