After the last 2 days of reading some very heavy-going posts, i have a nice follow-up story.
Here is my post back in Jan.07.

Well after months of searching and e-mailing i finally made contact with Mr. J. Schwanzer. I am pleased to say that he has confirmed to me (via e-mail with photos of the DK) that the engraved DKiG did in fact belong to Major Anton Schwanzer and it was done war time.
Without going into all the details, this DK was his second piece which he purchased, had engraved and had a case privately made. It stayed with his family while he wore his award piece. The award piece is in Germany with his decendants along with his soldbuch, photos and other items.
This is a great find and of course great news for me. A rare item that i can now be totally comfortable with.
regards,
AB.
