    RK (grouping) for discussion!

While another thread discusses dealers and their (sometimes) mistakes I thought a chat about Detlev's (#7025) offering might be informative.

I'm wondering particularly about the Knight's Cross! It appears to be the latter frame coupled w/ a non-iron core yet it's suggested that it was awarded in'43.

This seems to be a B-Type with a copper core. If this is the real cross that awarded in Nov. 1943 it woulkd be very astonishing. It would be the first unmagnetic S&L awarded during the war and would also mean that the B-Type was parallel to the A-Type. Furthermore, the 935-4 would needed to be reconsidered.

Or it is not the original cross - and that is what I strongly believe. I personally consider this cross a post-war production and I will stick to it!

The core of this cross is unmagnetic.

I may have missed something along the way - but can I assume that given the ease with which this can be determined to be a 'B type' frame that Herr Niemann's opinion on S&L's timeline differs from your own?

Presumably the two of you have discussed your theory..

                  Marshal,

                  nicely worded!

I know that Mr. Niemann read the article but there was no discussion about it with him. I know, however, that he always considered the 935's as post-war and that he has currently a group with a S&L B-Type (un-magnetic, unmarked) which he describes as a (most likely) post war cross.

He also sold a B-Type not long ago for Euro 2,000.- as post-war - if my memory serves me well.

So yes, he is aware and acknowledges the existence of post war S&L. Does he acknowledge as to how one can tell? I don't know.

i suggest Herr Niemann be given the oppourtunity to voice his opinion in this forum.... it would be the gentlemanly thing to do...i have read another thread saying that Herr Niemann has dealt in fakes. i would like to suggest also that paranoia and insecurity be given a thread in this site,,,as IMO as a novice because money is involved , this hobby needs a shutdown...i think its slighty out of control......that mite solve the problem...K

Karlo, Detlev monitors this Forum and when he chooses, he participates! Thereisn't anyone denegrating him here, so don't read too much in to these type posts.

At a cost of $17,000.00 I think that a bit of caution even some (healthy) paranoia is alright.

Sorry Dietrich, exactly what year and month did the B Type originate?

                          Brian,

I don't know 'exactly'. But not in Nov. 1943. And not in the un-magnetic form.
