    Opinions on EK2 Spange

    Hello,

got this in the mail today. It's my first spange and at $30 I just had to buy it.
Late war example in zinc, some very small portions of finish remain, mostly along the egdes of the spange.

The one thing that concerns me is the damage to the swastika (The damage was mentioned on the e-stand), it doesn't look like a bubble from a casting but still might be a red flag? All opinions are welcome!

    Hello

In my opinion, and of course this is only my personal opinion, but I like it and feel it is a good, original piece. For $30 it's a steal ! Actually, at $30, that's around £18 - £20 GBP, as opposed to a dealers price of around £90 to £120 it's more than a steal

The damage on the swastika looks in the photo to be just that, some damage.

    Regards
    David

      David,

thanks for your reply. The more I look at it, the better it gets. The detail is good, there is some finish left were it should be.
I noticed a small small hole on the reverse, just under the prong on the left but it doesn't look like a hole from casting, more like some detoriaton of the zinc.

If anyone else wants to add anything, please do.

      Regards,
      Henrik

        Looks OK to me
obviously zinc (!) and looks to have had a rough post-war exsistence (havn't we all)
still a nice honest piece though, not everyone's cup of tea, but I'd gladly give it a home
        at $30, that's still super-cheap for a hard-earned piece of history

I'm away from my 'spange-files' at the moment, but if you are still interested in a few weeks, remind me, and I'll run it through to see if I can match it up to any known makers/unmarked pieces. The date font looks pretty distinctive
        regards

          Jon,

thanks a lot for you answer. Hard earned and loved, thats for sure. I try to stay away from zinc awards most of the time but I could'nt steer clear of this one.

I'd be very glad if you could try to match it to another piece. Will send you a pm later on then.

          Regards,
          Henrik
