    Hi Brian,
This has actually been touch on a few times here. Most say "don't do it", but if you want to, some guys use a dip of some sort, and yes, a jewelry cloth.

Try doing a quick advanced search, using your exact term--"cleaning EKs" or "cleaning crosses".

    Good luck with it!

And congrats on your 1 year anny.

    best

      Hello Brian,
My advice would be to not clean them with a jewellery cleaner which will take off the patina that has accumulated over the last 60+ years.
If I get a cross which is covered in surface dust or dirt I just use some warm soapy water and clean the cross using an old soft toothbrush to get into all the crevices. When all the dirt has gone, rinse under warm running water and dry off best you can with a soft absorbant cloth. Now the important part - get a hair drier and use it to dry your cross completely. There will be water trapped between the frame and core which will cause rust if left, so make sure you blow all the water out, give it a shake occasionally to see if any water is still present. Don't worry if the cross heats up, this will cause any hidden water to evaporate.
If the cross has any loose of flaking paint then leave it, same as if you think there might be rust under the paint.
Hope this helps and well done on your last year!
