Looking at the article on top of the forum by Sebastian Bianchi I noted that the type "A" has two types of frosting. The later type has a painted frosting which would explain the bubbles. Ever painted something that was thinned out or stirred? The bubbles can happen. My 9 year old daughter had a painted stained glass project that sort of worked the same way. If you do not work out those trapped air bubbles, they stay on the finished product. That is what I think we have here. Another consistent sign and validation of his objective analysis. I am learning a lot from this that I did not anticipate.

Richard, I got the impression that these faults were in the metal and actually part of the shape of the frame...

I realize that you have the Cross in hand but are these really in the 'finish'?
