    EKII Spange original?

Is this piece period-manufactured, and if so, could someone please identify it's maker?

    Thank you,

    Robert

      Questionable

I personally don't like it. Things that make me feel uncomfortable are the leaves and eagles head and that the badge doesn't look very deep. It's seems flat. I wouldn't buy if it was me.

        Ken,

Until I see evidence of this piece being a fake, I can't go on gutt-feelings. I have hunted every archive on the forum looking for this piece, the EK fakes forum, the EK 'search' archives - I found nothing. I don't understand what you mean by 'flat.' Are you referring to thickness? The early trapazoid spanges had real depth to their bodies. But even the Meybauer Spanges were, as you say, 'flat'.

              Hello

I like it. If it is a fake, it's an extremely worrying one. The piece is balanced and has good detail. My opinion is that this one is good.

Maker wise, and this is only a guess, but I'd say Deumer.

              Regards
              David

I can't match it to any known fake. (It's not a Deumer, though, either.)

That's it with me too, George. It has no other piece to match it to. I call it the 'lone bird'.

No, they are not the self-same badge. But both of these examples are by the same maker. Thank you for posting both of these spanges. It DOES have provenence. Are either of these marked?

                        Thank you!

Well, that's unfortunate. Hopefully one with a mm may surface some day.
