    EK1 with a ground L # on the pin

Hi guys I have this EK1 on Estand and was asked who the maker was, you can see what looks to be a 6 but nothing else. I can't seem to find the hinge and pin setup either. Any Ideas who the maker is?? I can only think of L16 and L56 but it does not match any photos of a 16 I have and I only have photos of screw back L56s. Thanks in advance!!

It´s quite obvious that someone has tried to remove the maker´s mark.

            Why?

Why would anyone ever want to do that?

Maybe it wasn't L/56, someone found out, and rather than have a cross with the wrong maker stamped on it decided to get rid of the damning first numbers etc.

I have to agree with ekhunter on this one ;-)

WHY would anyone remove the makers mark? Denazification is understandable, but the MM?

I have seen this numerous times on german awards. Sometimes the relatives are thinking, the number could give a link (like award number or serial number) to the person who earned the awards. There's still a big fear in germany to get linked to "nazi" history. They don't know that this is only manufacturers cosde.
I have seen beautifull luft badges, but all the names on the back (Juncker Berlin) grinded out in the heavy way....

So you don´t think it looks like someone has ****ed with the pin in some way? With a file for example?

That was not my point :-)

It seems obvious that someone has used something to remove the MM! My point was simply that I didn't understand why! But heinrich66 seems to have a reasonable explanation!

                      Please excuse my poor english

OK, then I misunderstood you. Sorry!
                            Yes, than explanation sounds logic.
