    Gold German Cross, Zimmerman

    Hello, Gentlemen.
I recently purchased this Cross from a dealer over in Germany. Just wanted to run it by you, the members, for an evaluation now that I have had a chance to capture some photos. I notice one small detail that is a bit different from other Zimmerman Crosses I've seen. The numbers '20' look a little fatter as if the stamp was hit harder than usual. Can I hear some opinions, please?
    Thank you in advance. Robert

I'm sorry. It's pretty hard to evaluate something without a picture. Let's try again. I don't know what happened.

      Hello Robert

Have you looked at the Zimmermann pictures in the excellent article by Francois Saez and Jacques Calero on this site?

      http://wehrmacht-awards.com/german_c...zimmermann.htm

Also it would help if you could post some pictures of your own DK so we could all have a look and make comments.

All looks ok to me, although the makers mark is not the cleanest stamping I have seen I have no doubt that this piece is pre 1945. The rest of the piece is classic Zimmermann and even the formation of the numerals in the stamp is spot on, maybe a dirty stamp or someone was just in a hurry when they applied it.

And lastly the date to the front:

Thanks, Dez. It's always good to hear from others that a piece is good. This forum is invaluable.

                        Hi Robert,
I like it just fine - looks classic Zimmermann in all aspects. Nice Cross!
