Unmarked Iron Cross 1st class, Maker help.

I Just picked this up not to long ago, It is an Unmarked EK1 in a late war LDO case. It is in very good condition and is very frosty. Would anyone know who could possibly be the Maker? Thanks

    Hello

My best guess at this, based on what I can see in the pictures, would be that it is a Wilhelm Deumer, maker 3 and L/11.

If you could post some sharper pictures of head on shots of the front and rear it would be of help in confirming an ID for this cross.

    Regards
    David

        Hello Dave

It's not often I would argue with someone of your experience, but I toyed with the possibilty that it might by Wachtler & Lange, but decided in favour of Deumer as I can't see any of W&Ls tell tale 'signatures'. Maybe it's my eyes, (I was out late last night ), but I feel, from the pictures, that it's a Deumer.

I could be wrong, I have been before and no doubt will be again, but I would argue that it's a Deumer.

        Kind regards
        David

I'm seeing all different pics now,the one I saw was a W&L...I'm sure it had the squashed beading.

                Hello

I looked for the squashed beading, as my inital thought was W&L, but couldn't see any - hence why I went for Deumer. The beading to me looks pretty well even and symetrical all the way round.

I think we shall have to agree to disagree on this one. By the way, what does the latin moto in your signature mean ?

                Regards
                David

Still looks like a W&L to me.

                          Hello

That's a fine looking cross Dave, as is Cassidys. After comparing the date numerials etc from the one you have posted to the one Cassidy posted, I concede and agree that I'm wrong on this one.

Hey, the man who can't make a mistake can't make anything !!

                          Best regards
                          David

PS If you ever decide to part with that cross, let me know first !
