Are there different types of these? Early mid late etc?

Only two: completely unmarked and L/15 marked. Both Neusilber. No more production after July 1941. So all (real) Schickle are 'early'!

Thanks again Dietrich. Are the L/15 marked on the cross or just the loop?

              I believe he means:

              Unmarked frame
              or
              L/15 marked on the eyelet

Thanks Kevin. Has anyone a picture of one?

                Best, Sal

                (nice group btw!)

This is what has always caused me a bit of concern about the L/15s...

From what I can see on the pic. no reason at all to be concerned Andy. If you look at the detail of the numerals and the eyelet of this '57 version, not even close!!

Not to cast aspersions...it is a lovely group, but my point was that the Schickle frame dies were apparently used post war to make RKs in the same way that the SLs were. It has been established that SL and probably other makers made and sold TR versions of these awards after the war. So where do we draw the line? My 57 Schickle was probably made in the 60s...but what would these have looked like in 1947? What constitutes wartime vs postwar? An analysis a la SL would be interesting for these L/15s. This, coupled w/ a mint cross in the group of an officer who apparently served in the post war German military would cause a pucker factor for me, but that is just my opinion. Like I said, nice group...I really do like it

Sure but the Schickle KC is much much rarer then a S&L KC and not so easy to analyze I think given to the rarity of this maker. To give you an impression from the more then 100 groupings DN got in the last year I believe only two groupings had a Schickle KC.
One had a completely unmarked frame and unmarked loop and the other one is the one I bought. Many KC recipiants served in the post war german military so that doesn't mean anything to me.
What about the dies of all other medals and badges?

                          Kevin,

your Schickle cross is completely unmarked (magnetic core I hope) but the loop is marked 935 and L15 (i.e. w/o the '/'). Do I gather that correctly?

Ok. And you think the loop is correct?

Dietrich, I personally have no problem with the loop but the little knowledge I have is what I learned on this forum and from the more experienced collectors like Pieter V, Dave K. etc. and comparring with other KC's.

Could you please explain me and others the reason why you have issues with the Otto Schickle KC marked 800 on the frame under the eyelet or marked 835 on the lower arm?

                                Thanks in advance
