Can you post larger, more detailed pics of the spange and cross please. I have seen an original one with a simular attechment method.

          Finish

I'll say this. Look at the picture of the rear of the medal. Similiar finish to the two pieces of metal, and not much wear. Now look at the picture of the front. Spange in good shape, like it's rear, and the 1st class looks all beat to hell. I personally don't like it, it may be good, but my radar says bad. Doesn't look right.

From and engineering standpoint, the long pin, on the reverse, would defeat the purpose of a flexible joint between the spange and cross. If flexibility is what is desired, a separate attachement for the spange would be required.

Excellent point you made there Bob, and I agree with you. Don said he has seen an original like this before. I was not aware of an original one like this(hinged), but if so, and if he has photos, I would be interested in seeing them.

I saw it at LTC Tom Johnson's shop. He acquired it on a buying trip to Germany from a Luftwaffe vet.

                    Don,

Do you remember the method of attachment to the uniform, on the example of Colonel Johnson? I would think a hook, on the spange, or some other attachment, separate from that of the cross, would be necessary to allow a flex. The long straight pin would defeat that purpose.

In Detlev Niemann's Catalouge of Orders volume II, page 514, there is an example of the hinged spange. There are hooks on the spange and a pin on the cross.

Bob, he actually had two of them. They were slightly different in construction but both were reticulating. Seems that chair/cockpit bound officers might have prefered them that way. One had a hook on the spange if I recall correctly, I'm not sure about the other though.

Hi people many thanks for your help, I believe to have understood that this medal is more easily a forgery that not an original

but please ,a simple question would you buy you this medal for 170 USD?
                        many thanks

You still need better pics to determine if the spange and cross are originals.
If so then 170 would be cheap.

                            Hi ddoering

unfortunately I don't know even if I will still have the opportunity to do the purchase,
Certainly among the material that has been proposed to me there is a forgery, it deals with a block to buy together everything, and the only sure sample is a KVK II Kl !

then if they are all forgeries they cost too much, but otherwise it is a good bargain, but so at now it is only a gambling

                            thanks

I think the price already should tell you that something is not quite right here. You can find originals from 2000 to 8000 USD depending on dealer/source.
                              Cheers, Frank
