I know some of you guys are highly against cleaning medals. I belive sometimes they need a little spruceing up. Knowing a little about the military i know they like to have stuff shiny. Heres a before and after pic

        Hi,

i like it also cleaned, although I normally one of these guys they are against cleaning medals.

It looks good but i think if you clean it you must do it exactly. The uncleaned corners of the swast show that it is cleaned.

With much patience and caution one can make that good.

        Regards
        Andreas

            Hi,

you can take this and for the little rests i've made good experience with Q-Tips.
At first you can use Q-Tips soaked with a little bit of Ballistol and after maybe half an our you can clean the treated places with normal/try Q-Tips.

In this way I obtained very good results.

Very dirty pieces became again very beautiful ones without looking cleaned in a hard way.

            Regards
            Andreas

              Hello,

Yeah, I wouldn't have cleaned it but that's just me. I like the idea about the q-tips though as that is how I put vaseline on some of my zinc badges..........since you already started you might as well do the job right and get those inner areas.

Hope you post a new image after she's all taken care of.

Also, just to be a bit nosey, how much did you pay for a DKiG in that condition?

I cleaned my dkig about 15 years ago and it turned out nice as did years. It has since tarnished (and looks like yours before) I have changed my mind on cleaning most now stuff unless it needs it for preservation,I will still clean up my silverware from old Adolf,

                  William,
My guess is that you can expect to pay between 1500 if you find a deal and 1900 for a DKiG certain makers a little more,

                    Ya,

I know what they go for but I wanted to know what "that" one went for........I would maybe pay $1,200.00 but once again, that's just me.
