    Hi Peter

Looks like it's dirt. Feels smooth and does not show that much to the naked eye, but running my finger over it, it feels smooth and just tried cleaning a small bit with a cloth and it cleans off nicely with a slight wipe.

        Henri,

IMO your cross is original but postwar stamped and repainted.
BH Mayer also used this same type of needle on some of thier EK1's.

Try to compare your cross with mm26 EK1's on the Forum.
Or compare him with the ones her:

          good morning,

the cross is original in all parts, but not a typical deschler. the cross itself is a textbook B.H. meyer with its typical needle.
maybe the marked needle means that deschler supplied bh mayer and others with needles.

          regards,

          stefan

Stephan & Luud thanks for your input . Possibly this was marked 1 to try and get a higher price .

Amazing what some people get to . Well at least I got a BH Mayer which was missing from my collection

              hi henri,

theres nothing wrong with the mark. it is pre 45. deschler used to mark his EK1 with two markings, on the one hand the one above and on the other hand the more common bigger one.

maybe the pin was just replaced?

is it normal that the makers code stands in the smal loop/eye whitch is attached emediately on the ek2

                [very small and almost unreadeble]

There is no way you can mix up a Deschler whit any other maker, that is Imo.
Maybe the ek1 can some times look same as BH mayer, but the frames are unique. The ek1 have very low date and swaz, but then are the same shapes and weight as other makers. And dont forgett most off them goes black, very high silver content in the frames. Now to the ek2, the frames are exactly the same as on the ek1. But then there is a bigg diff if you compare to any other ek2 maker, they are very thick and hevy. Never seen one whit mark on the small ring , but it can be possibel. Just make shure you dont have a wideframe 24 there, they have marks on that ring. Also the ek2 have high silver contend in the frames. Almost forgott, the ek2 is one off the type whit a hump on the topp frame.
