Nice crosses guys! Interesting about the deterioration on the core. It may be caused by residue from the flux used to solder the frame together and under certain humid conditions the flux creeps into the core and rusts the core.
Hi guys I thought I would share a recent purchase that arrived today!!!!
It is a Juncker lazy2 but with the top of the 2 falling to the right side!!!!
It isn't in mint condition but still a very lovely cross!!!!!
Special thanks to the seller!!!!
Sincerely
...and no special thanks to the person who pushed you to buy it
Pieter.

I've seen the same rot on EKI's and EK2'. I believe it is electrolisis, air movement w/some humidity that eats into metal over time regardless of how slight. I've been able to apply gun oil and stop the process on my crosses. Gun Oil also helps zinc from rotting as well. WD-40 works just as well.

Electrolysis - forgot about that. As for WD-40, it's a tool of the devil I've seen gun finishes ruined because of it and it leaves a greasy residue behind that collects dust, filth and whatever is in the air. I also believe it will migrate behind any paint and seperate it from the metal. Petroleum jelly works well with zinc rot as we know but I still am concerned about leaving it on the zinc after treatment.
