No one? Sorry about the poor quality pics, my first attempt. I have owned it for some time. It is unmarked and I think it is made of "neusilber". Any thoughts on the maker? Ron.

Not made during the Third Reich in my opinion. The needle is pitted and have a very sharp point. The cross appear to have some discoloration at the reverse around the hinge and catch.

I think you will get more opinions with better photos. The flash makes the cross appear yellow. Take a photo in daylight. Take it straight on.

        Good luck
        Peter

Peter, you are right. Lousy pictures. I'll take more in daylight. Thanks, Ron.

            Hello!

In my opinion this piece is not coined like the originals. It is a copy from poured Metal.
The whole back is pitted what is a sign for poured copy.

There was late war versions made of zinc that was build with a method called "pressure pouring" (in german: Druckguss), but this pieces looks totally different. Outstanding feature by which these pieces can be recognized is the hinge and the catch that where poured togehther with the piece itselfe.

For better understanding. They looks like this "65" that is manufactured with this methode.

            Hope i've written understandably.

Thanks for the insight. I guess another item for the junkpile! By the way, your English is fine. Regards, Ron.

                Hi Ron,

Before you toss that guy in the scrap heap ... can you do us a few favors?

                a. Like Peter says, take some pictures in good lighting WITHOUT the flash (which always makes things appear yellowish).

THEN (but not after you get some more opinions) ...

                b. Try and clean the cross with some type of cleaner. I'd be interested to investigate this one a little further before giving up.

P.S. That being said, the others have raised some good points.

                  Hi Darrel!

As i said my english is not good.
When i translate what you wrote, your statement sounds in a general manner like you want Ron to throw me into the garbage.

                  Can that be right?

                  Regards

Maybe my English is that bad

No. I just told Ron that you have made a valid statement based on the pictures originally posted. I would like him to take some different pictures to make sure the odd color and appearance is not due to poor lighting or the camera flash.

                          Thanks Darrel for the clearing-up.

I thougt i've made here such a a bad occurrence.

Now i can sleep well again.

It's good that we can break trough the language barrier.

And you are right when you not want to give up before looking better pictures.
