    EK1 L/52 slim shape

    Hello Gents,

I want to introduce here a L/52 cross with 1914 core in nontypical slim shape for a 1939 restrike.
I have thought so long all restrikes has been made in the typical '39 shape.
Act from the assumption that the LDO has been established in 1941 it is not just a early piece like the "Schinkel crosses".

    All comments are welcome.

You are correct that Zimmermann 1939 versions of 1914 EK 1s are unusual in that they retain the Imperial shape. As far as I know, no other maker did that. Here's another screwback.

                  Hi Franki,

I don't know if I am getting this right but I think you are asking if 1939 Replacement awards came in 1914 type frames. If this is so, then have a look at the photos attached showing a Schinkle EKII and a Deumer (it's either marked '3' or L/11 - I have both) 1914 EKII from the Third Reich period.

Note that both frames are 1914 EKII shape and both are very similar if not identical.

For interest, I have been looking for a nice Third Reich replacement of the 1914 EKII with 1939 type frames but so far no luck.

Hope this helps - apologise if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

                  Regards ...

These L/52 marked crosses are very interesting (I have one too in pin-back) because it shows that these were being produced in this style up to 1941 and possibly later because of the LDO mark.
It also tends to show that LDO regulations did not come into force so quickly or if they did they didn't immediately apply to 1914 crosses.

                        Very nice crosses gents!

                            Hello Gents,

as I have heard that this cross comes with a pin as well I have moved heaven and earth to find one of these crosses.
I am proudly to present here my latest treasure trove and I think in pretty nice condition.
