    Dress Crosses

    Hi.
There has been a few "dress crosses" posted. Where does these come from? Was there any need for them during the Third Reich? With miniatures and stickpins available, why would they need dress crosses? Are they fantasy pieces made after the war?

Are there any regulations in size that makes a cross a "miniature"

    Thanks.
    Peter

I don't think that there's any such thing as a "dress cross." A soldier might get a nicer version of the standard issue cross for a dress uniform, but that's it.

            Hi Peter,

I guess I haven't been following the crosses forum closely enough recently as I'm not sure what you mean by "Dress Cross" - although I am pretty sure Harry's comments indicate he is coming out of the closet.

Peter, do you mean Prinzen size? If so, there probably were no official regulations authorizing them - more likely the opposite and they banned them (I don't have my references handy so I can't be sure). I have seen images of Prinzen 1939 EK1s thoguh - there are 2 imaged in Bowen's book. They may not be official but based on traditoin it would not surprise me that there were unauthorised exampels made, especially in the early part of the war (pre-LDO).

            Regards
            Mike
