I have an EK1 mm100 and the obverse of the frame appears to be silver plated (?). Can anyone advise me if that is correct? Thanks, Ron.

Question on EK1 finishes

And which metal was used?
It's a new opinion for me that EKs generaly should not made of silver.
I knew that the frame is stampet. With solid i wanted to say that the used material is massive silver or "Neusilber".
IMO most of the EK 1 frames and backblades are made from silver or the so called "Neusilber".

Andreas,
there is a big difference between Neusilber (Nickelsilber) which is an alloy containing no silver at all and silver itself. The stamps on any EK1 or EK2 do not indicate anything that has to do with silver but rather indicate a manufacturer. And again, the frame is not solid but hollow stamped.

i understand you in the first time you said that with the hollow stamped frame. That's only a problem with the speech. I know how EKs are made exactly.
The same problem with the speech we have in the case >stamped<.
I write it wrong in my last post. I wanted to say that i knew that the frame is hollow and thought stamped discripes the process making hollow frames.
And because i use the word stamp in a wrong way there is the next misunderstanding.
I have naturaly the basic knowlege that the stamp on the EKs ribbonring is the code for the manufacturer or in other words the maker mark.
I think i must slowly refresh my english before i talk about thinks like this.

To be clear, my EK1 is of typical construction: frontplate, core, backplate. Whether it is silver or "neusilber" I'm not sure. It has the appearance of silver. The frontplate appears to have the remains of plating which is very bright. Where mm100's plated on the front frame? The backplate shows no signs of plating.
Regards, Ron.
