            Hi Dieter

As said on the salesthread I'm afraid that this is a very obvious fake, though a early one 1950'ies 1960'ies. The casting mark on the top frame is one giveaway - you also see this on the model 1957 EKs. The same can be said about the needle and catch - 1957. The core looks very non period, flat svastica and very artistic date. The finnish and basemetal is all wrong, the shape is wrong - everything is wrong with this cross.

            Cheers Thomas

Dieter, the pin/hinge/catch set-up is a dead giveaway even if the cross didnt have other multiple issues Thomas pointed out. Pre-45 crosses did not have that set-up, its a 1957 type.

Though a post war - its interesting as it might have been a 'so veteran...you want your Ek1 with the 1957 oakleaves or one like your commander gave you in 1943?' The crazing and the wear seem to have developed over a long period of time, so I agree its a 1950's-60's era item. Woudl not be sad to have it in my collection for what it is.

                  Hello,

you can show it DN but I faer he will says the same as the members here already have mentioned.
It is definitely a after war production.

I have one of these also. CAme from an estate in Germany, it was the only bad medal in the group. I'm sure it was a replacement item, so it made it a "good" fake, as opposed to somebody outrighting cheating me.... But it's still NOT a wartime EK 1.
