    1914 EK1 Spange Combo #2

I have had this for a long time. I was once going to sell it, but no one was interested because the 1914 Iron Cross was one piece constructed. now I am glad no one wanted it. I have collected spanges, but don't know the maker of this one.

can't place the spange, although it's scarily close to the classic Floch!
where did you find this one Bob?

          Hello Jon,

I have had it for better than 2 decades, but can't pinpoint the source. It seems vastly different from the fakes in the chest, wings and feet. The chest does not have the vertical raised lines, the wings do not have the horizontal lines, and the feet are far different from those that are referred to as 'raptor' types and those displayed in the Reproduction Crosses Forum. The head is a completely different shape and pattern. I don't go to shows much any more so am not up on the more current copies. I would think that those who make fakes would try to copy an original example?????

Either way, I have not found another spange like it, in many years of collecting them, in a small way.

Looks great, Bob, especially with that setup. Not just rare but also interesting.
            Cheers, Frank

Yes, there always seems to be an original that the repros copy, seems like you found it, and where exactly was I when you were trying to sell this?
any chance you can show a pic of all 3 combos together, that would just about pop my cork! and probably a first for our hobby, amazing
              regards

                  Certainly looks Flochish to me.

Allow me to show a little compilation.
Left two freakin' birds I do consider Flochs own.

Never thought about the first one being Floch, but the second one jumped up this week and the clamshell did remind me of something I bought in the past.
And the raised L/20 also reminded me of my first thread posted here...
                    So a link was made...

Now when looking at the breast shields, they all got the same problem:

One side of the V is straight, the other one curved.

So either they are all Flochs, or they all have been copied from each other.

                      nice comparisons
I've never looked at the chest shapes on Flochs before, but I'll remember that one.
I look for 'that head', that numeral '1', the small wreath tie, and pronounced leaf edges
but however we got there, Floch it is
                      regards

I knew my spange was wrong, that ain't the problem.
But to discover he did me for the third time, ouch...
So I am Floched for 2 EK's and one Spange.
That's too much credit for that soab.

                        Whatever...
                        Gerade nun den Kopf hoch!

                        Regards,
                        Martin
