    L/58 As Knights Cross Marking

IS THE MARKING L/58 A LEGITIMATE L MARK FOR A KNIGHTS CROSS? I HAVE BEEN SENT PHOTOS OF A KC WITH THIS MARKING. THERE IS NO VISIBLE SILVER
HALLMARK ON THE RIM (L MARK IS UNDER EYELOOP). THERE APPEARS TO BE
MARKINGS ON THE SUSPENSION LOOP, BUT THE PHOTOS ARE SO POOR IT IS
NOT POSSIBLE TO MAKE THIS OUT. ADDITIONALLY THERE IS A SET OF OAKLEAVES AND SWORDS, AND AS FAR AS I CAN MAKE OUT, THE REVERSE OF THE SWORDS IS PLAIN/UNDETAILED, AND I CAN NOT MAKE OUT A MARKING ON
THE OAKLEAVES, BUT, AGAIN, THE PHOTOS ARE VERY POOR. WAS IT PERHAPS
COMMON OR NOT UNCOMMON THAT A PRIVATE PURCHASE SET OF OAKLEAVES
AND SWORDS COULD HAVE A PLAIN REVERSE/BACK SIDE? IT WILL BE ANOTHER
WEEK OR SO UNTIL I CAN HAVE THIS IS MY HANDS TO LOOK AT, BUT EVEN THEN I HAVE BEEN OUT OF COLLECTING FOR YEARS AND OBVIOUSLY THERE IS
QUITE A LOT TO KNOW AND TO LEARN. ANY THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS WOULD
BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU VERY MUCH--MARK C

Hello Mark! Likely a 'set' made post war by Souval to meet the growing interest of collectors.

thanks for the reply--is L/58 not the LDO for Glaser und Sohn, Dresden?
i understand that Souval used the L/58 on postwar items, but did Glaser use it
during the war, and did they produce Ritterkreuze? any links/sites you might recommend to look at? is a postwar item worth persuing?

No it's not. That Co. was afforded L/22 and the (PkZ#) 53.

The Souval crosses have become popular recently and at least attempt to replicate the methods used to produce the period Crosses....they are a better item than the meriad of repos offered in the past 30 years.
        Regards,
        Dave
