Schinkel crosses have narrower arms near the center.
              like most 1914 crosses have

Indeed, it is a Deumer non-magnetic Schinkel EK2.
                        Good eye Jarek.
By the way, it is now in a friend's collection

Ben, Jarek.. those are some of the big guys to ask about EKs.. not me! I am just an amateur

Schinkel form ww2 EKs are made in that way because they followed ww1 frame proportions. Not sure if they even had actual ww1 frames, but for sure when 1939 Ek was instituted some of the ww1 makers produced their pieces following the frame dimensions they had already produced a few years back.

That changed soon and all the producers adopted the regular 1939 EK2 frame dimensions, but by that point some of the former style EK2 had already been produced and awarded.. so they remained as a early variant.

Thankyou all for your input and the photos of the Schinkel EK 2. I now understand what the Schinkel looks like.

                            Have a great Sunday
