    Deumer Schinkel - My First

    Hello All,

Was lucky enough to find this one recently and wanted to share it. Besides the shape, the missing ball-terminal font also caught my eye. As I compared this one to the example in The Iron Cross 2. Class by Dietrich Maerz and Mario Alt, I noticed that the inner corners of the frame, on both the obverse and reverse, are not rounded - I believe this provides an additional reference for the full "fingerprint" of the frame die.

    All comments are welcome.

    Regards,

    Eric

      Hello Eric,

I a m sorry to say, but this is a so-called "Latvian" fake...
Not an original Deumer, although the shape of the numbers is pretty close.

Biggest give-away is the low date (too close to the frame) and the unevenness of the flange.

Well, that's a big "Nutz!" Now, I'll just have to keep looking. Thanks, Ben for the education. At least we have another example for the Database.

                Yes.
There are many very good 3-piece fakes of EK2-1939 crosses.

                Regards

The frame was the biggest giveaway for me. Happens to us all my friend. Keep looking and you’ll find a good one.

Thank you, Everyone for the kind words!

I think I'll be able to swap it out, so shouldn't be a total loss.

                        Regards,

                        Eric

In my book I have devoted a whole chapter to copies of the EK2-1939 crosses. Unfortunately, the book was published only in Poland, because I did not have a professional translator into English.
