Iron Cross 2nd class round 3

Here are front and back views of my newest acquisition.

In all my years of collecting it is my first round 3, in my favorite "been there and done that" condition.

    Regards,

    Chuck

Nice. I have one just like it with the stippled core and stepped swaztika. I notice the small ring... I wonder if this one used to live on a medal bar?

Those are exactly my thoughts Rich, and I am certain that it must have been, seeing that the small ring was normally used for parade mounted medals.

Wonderful Chuck! I love the absolute HEFT of a round 3- a most substantial-feeling EK2. And I agree - most likely was mounted before!

          Great one!

            Marc,

That is what I realized immediately about it. It is quite heavy. I also find the textured surface of the core to be very interesting. When viewing pictures of this model I always wondered if it was the paint or the actual body of the cross that had this texture........now I know!
