You guys came through with the answers! Not only is the cross itself convincing (crosshatched ribbing, L/12 larger than 800, etc.) but with the "worn" neck ribbon and the picture of the purported bearer (Cmnder III Battalion Jaeger Regt. 56), this goes beyond trolling for a live one to fraud! Doug mentions the use of shills to pump up the bid price, and I have been suspicious of that in other ebay auctions for "KC"s. It probably is coincidence that the price on this one is now at $1026, the exact price when Peter and others blew the whistle earlier this year, in the other thread that someone referred me to. They didn't even answer my inquiry about dimensions of the KC and divulging any known details about previous owners to establish chain of custody from the "Hauptmann" who was bearer to militaria-webside, which tells you something right there. yes, of course there are honest sellers at ebay, I just mean that you have to know what you are looking for (this counts when you buy from dealers like Detlev also) and that it is more easy to get ripped of by private persons on ebay that by known dealers.
