You guys came through with the answers! Not only is the cross itself convincing (crosshatched ribbing, L/12 larger than 800, etc.) but with the "worn" neck ribbon and the picture of the purported bearer (Cmnder III Battalion Jaeger Regt. 56), this goes beyond trolling for a live one to fraud! Doug mentions the use of shills to pump up the bid price, and I have been suspicious of that in other ebay auctions for "KC"s. It probably is coincidence that the price on this one is now at $1026, the exact price when Peter and others blew the whistle earlier this year, in the other thread that someone referred me to. Still, I wonder........
Peter Wiking saved my bacon already on another ebay KC. He warned me there are a lot of sharks out there & he was right. I don't have $8K, but at least I still have my $1K+ I would have paid for one of the many fakes. I'm a slow learner, but after this I think I'll start checking Detlev-Niemann and filling out the application for a second mortgage!
I apologize for sending this thread in a different direction. I hope I didn't break any protocol here but am new to the forum and was not aware of the previous discussions on this item and seller. Thanks everyone and take care!

It could be of interest that militaria-webside uses the name jnickellsoad as well. I know that from a very rude email from him when i confronted him with a RK reproductin he had for sale a while back. My messege was sent to militaria-webside. The rude reply was signed with jnickellsoad

        Take care.

Is that why Canada passed the Gay Marriage Act? To keep the pussy more virginal??

That is of interest. They didn't even answer my inquiry about dimensions of the KC and divulging any known details about previous owners to establish chain of custody from the "Hauptmann" who was bearer to militaria-webside, which tells you something right there. Thanks again Peter - I owe you more than one. And a big thanks to all of you who responded/provided helpful information!

He also appears to be using annelena34w now as well. That buyer outbid me on a ribbon bar, and lo and behold militaria-webside listed the same bar (with the same pictures, in fact) about five hours later.

Olav, fair enough...but there are also good ebay sellers...not everyone selling on ebay is a fraud or trickster...look at the seller's feedback and look at the other items he is selling and if in doubt ask the seller for more info or check here on the forum. Cheers, Torsten (ebay id german.militaria).

yes, of course there are honest sellers at ebay, I just mean that you have to know what you are looking for (this counts when you buy from dealers like Detlev also) and that it is more easy to get ripped of by private persons on ebay that by known dealers.

                    Cheers
