Did you manage to get a photo of a single splatter hole to see the definition of the best looking or 'pristine' splatter?

I can't stay away!!! However, I have said what I wanted about POST war made crosses and hints to determine a closer 'look see'!
But regarding 'splatter' and how it might relate to the A/B 1 or 2 die that I don't subscribe to here's some more of what I believe to be weld splatter....not a die flaw but debris that was transient

Here is a shot of very messy weld splatter onto the core on a 935-only marked cross- upper of 3 o'clock arm - iron core, flawless & crisp beading. Post-war in the opinion of D.Niemann....Last edited by Harry; 07-10-2007, 06:44 AM.Comment

I have a few, but not of the greatest quality! This cross had a nice crispness to the beading, but the core seemed a bit un-crisp, especially the dates....The 'eye' is particularly 'doughnut' shaped........Last edited by Harry; 07-10-2007, 06:44 AM.Comment

Of course there is also the possibility of war-time struck frames, postwar silver content struck on them, assembled with post-war made core!Comment

Here is what I would have considered as a mid/late war (maybe just before Prad. numbers are introduced) cross. Crisp, flawless, but with less finishing on the 'eye' and a mid/late era ribbon loop; iron core, 800 marked, lots of frosting, and weighing over 30g.
