    Ubergrosse question

    Hi to everybody,
I found and bought yesterday evening a probably Ubergrosse made not by Frank & Reif but present a Zimmermann frame, or better I see that, and have 3 inner edge cutted.

Is possible that cross is made by another factory ?

Sorry for pics, are from website.

IMO it's typical Zimmermann (=6) with later core.

Sometimes we encounter specimens of crosses, with internal angles cutted tangents to swaz.

Nice one .... those are not easy to come by .
I have one - IMO it has an early core and frame .

          Core

I like it. Hard to say since all these were relatively early. It does not appear to be as offset as I’ve seen before but the most important thing is it’s a good one.

Yes 2 cores are early and one is not = 3 cores . There are no marked EK2s with filled corners .

Max : Once you get it I am quit interested in the weight and the thickness of that EK2 .
            Below the 3 cores :

                Early :

A late core can only be in a marked cross.

                      Hi Douglas
                      here the info required.

I checked again the mm on ring = none I confirm and 3 inner edge cutted.

Great -- just like the ones I have . Was wondering when I would see another one .

                          Thanks Douglas,
is not often to see a 3rd core type and unmarked cross?

Yes Max - a core type that IMO should never be found in a marked cross .
The core type 3 was one of three cores that exist and has no association to when made or used .
To me the oversize core and thin date core I would think were made and 'used' at about the same time .
Using frame and core type 3 in large numbers would not be sensible -why make a frame and then 'reshape' it again ?
Some kind of trial and just using up left over components .
