Question to EK2 LDO cases :

A question to inside LDO marked cases . Most have a tan-ish to orangy clored cross incert . Are EK2 cases with grey incerts ( bottom L58marked ) war time ?

    Cheers Douglas

I was curious for others answers, but personally, I have not seen those. Could you post a picture?

        Hi Douglas,

Is it possible replaced? Seems to be a newer velour-type material.
        Best regards,

I am not any good at these EK2 cases .... just comparing with other posted ones .... the color was the thing that bothered me on the incert . There was no other like it . The rest of the case looked original to me .
Some time back there was an EK2 case for sale with no incert . I never saved any pictures of that one ..... I wonder now .
It sold for 356 Euros .

That's a new one for me.

Never seen a grey/white base before.

I am inclined to agree with a previous poster that in the best case scenario it appears to be a replacement. It does not appear to fit well height wise. One way or another, not one for my collection.

Having said that, it does look very much like the insert/bases of EK1 cases. Strange.

I have 7 LDO cased Ek2's and none are with this kind of incert.
I have one L/58 marked one, I will see if I have any pics on my computer, so you can compare.

                              Douglas,

IMO the case and base are correct.

It's what Marcus Hatton described as a Type 1 case (early type). I have discoverd that there are two different types of EK2 LDO cases. The lighter coloured plush type base is found on most, but not all cases with the larger LDO logo on the inside of the lid. It also seems that cases marked L/11 have this type 1 base and larger LDO logo but I've only seen a few of them.

Here is my L/11 marked case and cross with this type of base and the larger logo.

Also some links to threads that show this type of base.

                              Regards,
                              AB.
