From these pictures I also think this is a very nice original and rare Cholm shield.
I have some problems with the reverse. Most official awarded Cholm shields of this kind have a cloth backing but there are examples known with paper backing, however IMO the pins on the reverse are too short. I don't think I have these short pins on a Cholm shield before.

really, the truth is under the paper!
You should try to remove a little part of the paper, maybe it is easy to remove, so we can see which type of pins were used. Cloth looks original, the paper not, but no one can say when it was applied to the shield. I see even a difference between the aging of the cloth and the paper; paper looks like new and really few aged.

Beautiful original and I have no problems with the short pins at all. The pins can be cut to different lengths depending on who cut them and I have also seen other shields with very similar length pins.

            Regards,
            Chris G.

                      Hi Frank,
I stand corrected. Your shield is a textbook original. Like mentioned earlier most official awarded Cholm shields came with a cloth backing. Yours is a textbook example of a shield which came with a paper backing. All original even down to the glue.

After doing some research I came to the conclusion that there indeed examples known with the short prongs.

All in all a very nice and very rare shield.
