thank you foor the confirmation on originality what do you mean by rare sheet metal type? Would not all be made from sheet metal in one way or another? Cheers, Torsten.

Not all the shields were made in steel sheet metal, some were made in zinc, some has bronze finish, some others not...

I like the "fat beak"....so...is it original as stated ,or isn't it....looks well made...OK I see it now...One thing I do know is the italian troops, had some steel insignias...of various branches of service...could the maker have been italian ? There were italians fighting with the germans in the crimea.

Hi Antonio, thank you for your response and confirmation however, the statement that I made comment to was that this was 'sheet metal' and therefore scarce and did not say 'steel sheet metal' ... this is why I queried it ... of course, they are not all made from steel, but I would have thought that they are all made from sheet metal, if original ... Cheers, Torsten.
