Krim shield...opinion, please.

Here is a Krim shield that came out of a collection..I purchased....I know very little about the authenticity of these shields, but am ready to listen.....the backing seems to be some sort of paper or carboard and I can feel the 4 pins behind it that protrude through the felt/wool? material....hat do you think?...thank you in advance...Frank Davis.

Hi Frank, this shield is an old and well known fake, no one original were made using this design, and this copy is easy to detect: the eagle's head is really ugly.

Thanks for all of your help....looking at the eagle closely now, it doesn't even look close in comparison to the authentic shields posted lately.....Oh well, another for the reject frame!.....Frank

Hi Frank,

As the others have said, it is a fake. It is known as the duck-billed platypus fake.

Here is another example of the same fake, except this one is on Luftwaffe blue-gray wool and is backed with tan-colored paper.
