    Kuban Shield

    Hi,

I generally collect cloth insignia, but I have a soft spot for campaign shields. I wanted to post this one for your opinions. I have been told that it is a type that has been faked extensively, and that the fakes are very close to the original. I really like the look of this one, but I was wondering about the width of the top of the letter 'A', which is not as narrow as you see on a lot of these shields that are held to be original. Apologies to all shield experts if this is either a one-looker original, or a one-looker fake - I'm still trying to learn the fine points of telling the good ones from the bad ones.

If it is good, does anyone know who the maker might be?

    Many thanks,

    Mark

      Hi Mark,
Your shield is original. This is a different type as the one posted in the pinned thread. Therefor the size of the top of the "A" is not characteristic for this type.

There is a good change that this type was made by JFS.

            Gentlemen,

Many thanks for looking at this shield, and for confirming its originality. Thanks also for the information about Josef Feix being a possible maker for it. I have just bought the shield! I have wanted one for ages, and this one is terrific.

            Best regards,

            Mark
