Thanks Stijn that is very kind of you. I wish I could comment on your shield but these shields are still out of my league.

Why is it that these shields always land at your house and not at mine even though I looking for them??? .

The reason they land at my house is because i live at Cholm and all these piece must return towards where they once where earned !!!!!!!!

Thank you for the comment, nope no LW backings yet => funny thing is that the shield as presented here was actually awarded towards a LW - Glider pilot.

The piece as presented here is the one that comes from his so called "ubermantel" and he did wear it also with this green backing on his LW blue uniform !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Interesting , so luftwaffe backed Cholm shields were rare even at the time

My Cholmschild that came with my LW grouping was issued with a green backing too, but the wearer opted to remove the backing and wear just the shield. Mike Heuer has a beauty with a blue backing, the nicest I've seen.

Thank you for posting that Cholmshield => very very nice .

Gene, didyou have contact with the winner of that shield? + did he confirm personally that the shield was issued on a Heer cloth?
