    Lappland shield

Here is another Lappland shield. It looks different from what I have been seeing lately.

Personally, unless it came from the family directly i'd look elsewhere. I don't like the black paint nor the 'map', thought it's nothing more than a gut feeling.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

This one is definetly made with mold.Material looks like lead to me.Is it heavy?

I personally only believe in the carved/engraved aluminium ones.Which are rude/little bit ugly looking ones. That was the most common way soldiers did all kinds of remembrance items in frontlines at Finland(Lapland).

I agree with jiipee76 in that the shield does appear to be molded. The shield weighs in at 35.5 grams which is somewhat heavy. The shield is made from a white metal and then blackened.

Maybe Munster's badge is the carved/engraved example.

                Hi mark

The carved engraved examples I think jussi is referring to are the little black ones, i call them the soap example, because they remindme on little bars of carved soap. Thats the safest bet you have on these imo, but i would never take one unless it was in a group and privately scored.

yes, I do think these are themost widely accepted, although I have seen a site that sells repros of these also. only take them from private buys in groups imo.

Peter, there are some detail differences, but my shield does look similar to the shield you have pictured.

Hi Joey, I'd be interested to hear why you think some of these examples are wrong. Can you post pics of original shields.
