    KHOLM Shield Relook

    Hi Everyone,

Given the controversy over some of the Kholm shields posted on the forum I decided to repost my example for opinion again. When I posted it 2 years ago it was blessed as good. However I've seen other ones that looked almost identical that were given the thumbs down.

When I got it there was no backing or back plate. I added them for display. From what I've read the LDO outlets sold just the shield itself.

Here are the pics. In most cases I've included a negative image since the silver finish and flash hide the details.

Anyway all opinions are welcome.WR Jim

Pics aren't the greatest and could be a lot better, but from what I see it looks good.

                  Jim,
Mind you, I do not collect these but I do like what I see in your example.

                    Cholmshield

                    Hi jim,

Your shield looks textbook as far as can be seen from the pictures, it has all characteristics of a genuine shield from what can be observed.

This shield is probably made out of iron and has three prongs on the reverse, iff so then it is of the shieldtype that was actually awarded. Is the backing plate still present?

                    Cordial greetings,

                      Hi Jim,
I agree, textbook example of an original Cholm shield.
And don't worry, original shields will always stay original .

                        Cordial greetings,
                        Thanks for the positive comments.

Actually theres a small story to how I got it. This popped up at some church sale outside San Antonio, TX 2-3 years ago. The buyer put it on E Bay (with poor pics). A dealer friend in San Antonio saw the auction and visited the seller with the intent of buying it. He ended up getting it off E Bay. He offered it to me at 20% of the market value because it was missing the back plate and cloth.

I'm guessing this probably came from a vets estate and is just as he/she found it (without backplate/cloth). The wear appears to be from poor storage in the high humidity of South TX.

Anyway its 3 pronged and made from steel/iron.

                        WR Jim

                          Hi Jim,

You did very well, the shield is (and will always stay as pascal already did mention) a original.

Iff you did obtain it for 20 % of the price then you also did do very well in regards towards that aspect.

Thanks for showing it and never say never is my advise, once upon a time nice items do pop up (even on ebay) and im always happy to see that they are treasured

                            Cordial greetings,
Thank you very much. I'm not a shield collector so forgive my paranoia. I'm glad I got it for a decent price, makes up for all the times he overcharged me . WR Jim
