Real DKIG ? early, mid, late ?

    Hello everyone,
I want to buy my 1st DKIG 1957's version, there is another thread about that. I saw this one on Ebay, what do you think about it ? The seller ask 125€ or best offer, It's my first DKIG so I need a little bit of help.
    Thanks all !

I wouldn't buy it at that price .... too modern ( or even good reproduction ).

Don't go rushing and try to buy anything you see, you'll end up with a few bad items.
Post here, ask opinions and then you'll find a good piece - that's my advice.

PS - also saw you have a request in the forum - perhaps another member can help you out.

Thanks for the reply ! Sorry i'm not an expert on 1957's stuff. I am researching a good example in very good condition if possible. Thanks Matthieu.

              Hi,

Welcome to the WAF 57er section! It is great to see a new collector with high enthusiasm as well. As Mathijs stated, do a little research, and be careful with your purchase as there are many modern/fakes of the 57er DKiG. Be especially careful if shopping on ebay.

All that being said, your best bet is probably an S&L late production (after '68-mid 70's) example. This vintage award will be easier on the budget and still be a nice, collectable example. The award will have an open hinge block. Here is one example for sale:

              http://shop.andersonmilitaria.co.uk/.../Products/6688

If your budget allows, you might want to chase an even earlier S&L produced award with solid hinge block. Did you know that S&L produced the starburst in four different colors? Maybe you have a preference based upon this feature. In my opinion, the Deumer produced DKiG is the best of the 57er DKiG, however these will set you back 400-500 euros, if you can find one.

The 57er WAF estand is always a great place to find authentic 57er awards. Good luck in your search.

              Best,

              Jeff
