    57er Grubenwehr Ehrenzeichen..........

Gentlemen, my latest medal, a Mine Rescue Medal "Grubenwehr Ehrenzeichen" probably by St u L......production time unknown, researching through the net not many encountered, it does not do have the typical raised features polished like so many of the 57er medals, so I am unable to date, possibly late ?.......
I think it looses something with the omission of the eagle and swastika !
Measures and weighs the same as Nigel's.
    Prost ! Steve.

        Hi Steve!!
Looks like a nice piece to me, I believe it is the S&L type, unknown at the moment if there is another maker's version out there?
I haven't seen any with polished highlights, so either all the ones I've seen have been later, or, there aren't any with polished highlights??
A lot to learn about these rare, and quite important medals, a high award for a civilian, and well earned!!
Yours looks to match mine pretty much, and I would guess it was an early to mid 60's piece???
It does suffer a little from the lack of swastika, in a similar way to the Olympic decoration, but still nice IMO!!!
Good catch of a scarce medal!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Nigel, it is always good to get the thumbs up from you
I studied yours before hitting the buy it now button ! not seen that much...infact other than TR period ones, yours is the only 57er version I have spotted to date !
          Prost ! Steve.
Here is the TR version for those who have not seen this award before...............

I agree with Nigel. Here's one that doesn't convert so nicely to 57er. I'm surprised they didn't add an eagle as that would have done the trick I think. This example is a very nice one Steve, congrats.
